Healthcare & Nutrition

As Apida Community Health CBO, we believe that community engagement and proactive healthcare interventions are key to improving health outcomes and fostering sustainable development to the entire communities.

Health is a key aspect of our lives and of those we care about. Health includes physical and mental health. Naturally this covers the timely and appropriate provision of medical care – but it also takes into account the underlying determinants of health, such as:

  • access to safe water and adequate sanitation;
  • an adequate supply of safe food, nutrition and housing;
  • healthy occupational and environmental conditions;
  • access to health-related education and information, including on sexual and reproductive health; and
  • freedom from discrimination.

Our Main Approach

As Apida Community Health CBO’s healthcare and nutrition program is committed to bringing healthcare directly to the communities and promoting health awareness among underprivileged populations. Our healthcare and nutrition initiatives revolve around five core focus areas:

1. Community Health Systems: We advocate for and implement the Community Health Strategy, engaging communities in health promotion, disease prevention and basic curative interventions.

2. Malnutrition: Our nutrition program focuses on preventing, identifying and treating malnutrition in children under 5 years. We integrate screening and treatment services into health facilities, collaborate with government agencies and work closely with Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and early childhood development centers (ECDs).

3. Maternal, Newborn and Child Healthcare: Recognizing the unique needs of newborns, infants and expectant mothers, we provide comprehensive maternal and child health services. Our skilled personnel deliver community health education, antenatal care, emergency transportation, supervised delivery and postnatal care.

4. Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health: We prioritize the health and well-being of adolescents and youth by offering essential services tailored to their needs. Our interventions encompass sexual and reproductive health services, psychological counseling and bridging gaps in healthcare provision.
